MONTGOMERY NEWS, WEEK OF NOVEMBER 20, 2023

On Tuesday 11/14 the 500 Card Club met at the home of Anita Woodward at noon time to begin our afternoon play. Anita had snacks and punch prepared for the afternoon refreshments. At the start of each game we pick a card to determine where we will start, as there are three tables set up to have four players at each table, #1 is the head table,  then #2 & #3.  We have four hands to each of the eight rounds that are played. Carmen Scott and Marge Cummings started at table one and they were partners for the whole afternoon, which happens once in a while but not often, they had high and second high score for the afternoon for a total of 3,660; low score went to Denise Baker 850; and a two-way tie for most horses, high card draw winner was Sue Cherrier with Debbi Chauvin. Anita has a large window to watch the many birds that come to her feeder. The birds were busy gathering seeds as the weather was changing with a cold freezing mist falling.  We all got home safely and we all had a wonderful afternoon. I played cards in the absence of Therese Begnoche. Our December gathering will be hosted by Connie McFarland on the 12th.

11/19: Wild turkeys were busy feeding down in the field as we were leaving town today. We went to get a turkey at Hannafords for our Thanksgiving dinner. This is a good time to wish all of you readers a happy Thanksgiving day,  God Bless!

11/19: Merle Van Gieson prepared our Church Service today with the message “Respond to God’s Gifts,” and the Scripture readings read by both Patrick Evans and Merle. When we came out of Church it was snowing but it did not last long, as it was starting to warm up, mostly rain fell if anything. One of those days to get a little everything. The weathermen are watching and will keep us posted about the storm headed our way on Wednesday into Thursday.

11/19: Veronica and Samantha should be arriving back home tomorrow, Nov. 20th. They have had a wonderful week with Jayden who has taken them on several tours. Veronica has pictures that she will share with her family and friends.
