Marcia Jane Coon
ST. ALBANS: Marcia Jane Coon, a lifelong area resident, passed away peacefully on Wednesday, January 3rd, 2024, at the McClure-Miller Respite House with her family at her side.
Born in St. Albans on January 15th, 1942, she was the daughter of the late Herbert E. and Marjorie (Wiley) Fortin. Marcia was 81 years old.
On March 23rd, 1963, at the St. Albans Bay United Methodist Church, Marcia married Dale Alan Coon who survives her.
Marcia was educated in St. Albans and was a 1960 graduate of Bellows Free Academy. She was a longtime employee of the former Franklin Lamoille Bank, retiring in 1989, and then was employed by Ned Shulman, MD retiring in 2005.
Survivors include her husband of 60 years, Dale of St. Albans; their two daughters, Tammy (Alain) Morissette, of Underhill and Carolyn (Jon) Ives of Mexico, as well as her grandchildren, Lydia Nguyen, Maya (David) Crowley, Mathieu Morissette and Lucas Morissette; and several nieces and nephews. Her sister-in-law, Cathy (Coon) Ramsay, her lifelong friend, also survives her, along with other brothers and sisters-in-law, Janet Coon, Robert and Kathleen Coon, Stuart and Helen Coon, Henry Coon, Keith and Paula Coon, Gregory Coon, Peggy Coon, and Maria Coon; and several beloved cousins.
Marcia loved her family and her friends and maintained lifelong friendships with many of her classmates from St. Mary’s and BFA. She and Dale were active members of their church, and she was fortunate to be part of a loving and supportive congregation. Marcia loved animals, especially cats, and loved her cats like children. In her younger years, she enjoyed fishing and traveling with her daughters. Later in life, she enjoyed jigsaw puzzles, word games, video games, and Facebook, which helped her keep in touch with her family, reconnect with old friends, and make new friends. She and Dale enjoyed a tranquil and happy retirement together.
In addition to her parents, Marcia was predeceased by her sister Jacqueline Beauregard, her brother-in-law Stanley Beauregard, several other brothers and sisters-in-law, aunts and uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.
Marcia’s family will receive family and friends on Friday, January 12th, 2024, from 4 – 6 pm at the Heald Funeral Home, 87 South Main Street, St. Albans.
A funeral service will be held on Saturday, January 13th, at 11 am at the St. Albans Bay United Methodist Church, 575 Lake Road, St. Albans Bay with Pastor Seokcheol Shin officiating. Prayers of committal and interment will take place later this spring in the St. Albans Bay Cemetery.
