Thornton John Machia Sr.

SHELDON: The anchor of our family, Thornton John Machia, joined God’s Kingdom on Easter Sunday, April 17th, 2022, surrounded by his loving family.

Thornton was born on November 12th, 1932, to the late Donald and Doris (Corwell) Machia.

Thornton was a true definition of a man. He was hardworking, a joker, stubborn at times, but a heart of gold that was soft when needed. He has faced many pains and sorrows with such tragedies throughout his life but not once did he complain at what he faced. Anything he pursued in life for work or his family, he gave a hundred percent without ever expecting anything in return. He was the type of man that everyone who met him loved him. He was a farmer, a plant supervisor at Chris Craft Waterford, NY; he loved working on things, construction and repairs during his spare time. He was a master of many things, a list that is far too long to account for.

Along with his parents, Thornton was predeceased by his wife Frances Machia; his companion Antionette Dragon “grandma Toni”; his children Patrick, Pamela, Little Earl, and Sherry Machia; his grandson Shawn Turner; his brothers Wendall and Earl; and his sister, Lorraine Plouffe.

He leaves behind his children Thornton J. Machia Jr. (Julie), Debora J. McDade (Joe), and Regina Machia (Darrell Meyer); his two granddaughters that he raised Samantha and Shalee Turner; his sisters Eleanor Snedecor NY, Diane Vautrin (George) NY, Beverly Descorcie VT, Priscilla Bockus (Sally) VT, Sandra White VT’ his brother Donald Machia (Marjorie Ward) VT, and numerous grand, great-grand, great-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews, cousins, and many friends.

There will be a celebration of life for Thornton on May 28th, 2022, at 2:00PM at his home 2567 Machia Road, Sheldon, VT 05483. All who wish to join Thornton’s family in celebrating his life are welcome. Please bring a dish to share, and a chair, and of course many memories to share!

Honored to be serving the Machia family is the Heald Funeral Home, where messages of condolence are welcome at www.healdfuneralhome.com
