Sharon Lee Tyler

SWANTON: Sharon Lee Tyler, a 57 year resident of this area passed away peacefully on Thursday, February 1st, 2024, at home with her family at her side.  

Born in St. Johnsbury on July 16, 1946, she was the daughter of the late Carroll and Margaret (Colbath) Hall. Sharon was 77 years old.  

Sharon was the Assistant Librarian at the Swanton Elementary and Central Schools from 1976 to 1983.  She started at the Border Patrol at the Swanton Sector in 1983 and continued her Federal Service from that point on with U.S. Customs and Immigration.  In April 1994 she graduated from the 16-week FLETC course in Glynco, GA, and became an Immigration Officer with U.S. Customs and Border Patrol until her retirement in July 2008. After her retirement, she volunteered at SATEC in her grandchildren’s classrooms and was also a substitute teacher.  

Sharon was also a longtime Lamoille Valley Cruisers member and a trombone player with the Fairfax/Fletcher/Westford Town Band.  

Survivors include her husband, Larry F. Tyler; her daughter, Tami Laroche and her husband, Stephen, and their children, Tyler and Elizabeth; her son, Chris Tyler and his daughters, Lindsey and Jillian and her husband, Bryan Deyette; and two great-grandchildren.  

In addition to her parents, Sharon was predeceased by her brother, Rodney Hall on May 6th, 2022, and twin sisters, Catherine and Carol Ann.  

Sharon’s family will receive family and friends on Friday, February 16th, 2024, from 4 – 7 pm at the Heald Funeral Home, 87 South Main Street, St. Albans.  

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, February 17th, at 11 am at the Immaculate Conception Parish, Holy Angels Church, 245 Lake Street, St. Albans with Reverend Father Christopher Micale as celebrant.

Sharon’s family would like to thank the Hospice family from Bayada, and a special thanks to Hailey, Amanda, Courtney, Chris, and Michelle for the care and support given to Sharon and her family during her illness.
