THE MONTGOMERY NEWS, week of APRIL 29, 2024
Submitted by Lois Lumbra
Tuesday, April 23: It was a nice beginning with a morning visit from Veronica. She and Penny connected to see what she could find for a keep-sake item that was her Dad’s. There were plenty of things for her to choose from. She stayed for lunch and we had a wonderful visit.
Wednesday, April 24: What in the world, yes, it was true, Wednesday afternoon we had a 20 minute SNOW squall. It did not last long as the ground was warm enough and melted it right away.
Thursday, April 25:The Quilting Circle met at the home of Sue Peters, at noon time. We each bring our lunch and enjoy eating and chatting. At one o’clock it was time to go down to Sue’s big work area where she was all prepared to go to work. Beginning with Show-N-Tell, each person brings her new creation of all their newly stitched up fabric. It might be tote bags, quilts, doll clothes, or pillowcases, no matter what, you can believe everything is beautiful. A big bag of fabric squares was brought in and an idea was to use these squares to make parts of a tote bag, but the squares were too big and had to be downsized, so that became the new project for the afternoon. The squares got smaller and then stitched together then I pressed them. It’s so amazing how fast these little squares are matched and become so beautiful.
Sunday, April 28: This morning we had a thunder shower was like an alarm clock to many, no late sleeping with that much noise. The lightning was so bright and constantly flashing. NO, I did not care for the closeness of it. The new kittens were terrified, it was their first thundershower. Thanks to our brave, Penny. Sonny never had any fear, but my Mom did not like thundershowers and she would hide me in a closet and I have never liked them since.
Merle Van Gieson led our church service with his message entitled “Abide In Jesus.”
Linda Van Gieson shared pictures of the bear that has been coming to find something to eat. Although the bird feeders have been taken down, it seems the bears do not forget, they keep testing. Penny has been keeping a quiet eye on a pair of geese that lost their nest/eggs to the recent high water that washed their little family/home away…so sad.
On my way home from Church, Sheila Marsha stopped by to say her Aunt Shirley Demerrit had passed away. She was the daughter of Charles and Bernice Deuso of town. We extend sincere sympathy to Sheila’s family and friends. God Bless them all.
Happy Birthday wishes to Waylon Marshall 5/5. Kristen Fletcher, Megan Stanley 5/6; Anna Beth McGovern 5/10; Laurel Tryhorne, Mary Ann Lyons 5/11.
