Betty Elaine (Shepard) DesLauriers

ST. ALBANS: Betty Elaine (Shepard) DesLauriers, a lifelong area resident, passed away on Monday, August 26, 2024 at the Villa Rehab Center. 

Betty was born in St. Albans on April 4, 1925, the daughter of the late Arthur and Molly (Hope) Shepard.  Betty was 99 years old. 

On August 30, 1943, in St. Albans, Betty married Donald DesLauriers Sr. who predeceased her on February 4, 2016. They were married for 72 years. 

Betty was a 1943 graduate of Bellows Free Academy in St. Albans. She was involved with the Holy Angels Lunch Program before moving on to IBM, until her retirement in 1986. She was a longtime communicant of Holy Angels Parish and a member of the Ladies of St. Anne. 

Survivors include her children, Patricia Willis (Terry) of Bradenton, Florida, Peter DesLauriers (Martha) of St. Albans, Steven DesLauriers (Linda) of St. Albans, Tammy Sweet (Ron) of Milton, Mary Pelkey (Dean) of St. Albans, Joseph DesLauriers (Diane) of Salem, Ohio and Kim Perry of Columbus, Indiana, as well as 34 grandchildren, 47 great-grandchildren, and 14 great-great grandchildren.

Betty is also survived by her brother-in-law, Dick DesLauriers (Faith) of Port Orange, Florida, and many nieces and nephews including a special nephew Bill Bressette and special niece Sally Trombley Smith.

In addition to her parents Arthur and Molly and husband Donald, Betty was predeceased by her son Danny DesLauriers, daughter Donna Machia, grandsons Clayton Perry and Michael Singer, great-grandson Connor Roberts, siblings Ruth Trombley, June Murano, Pearl Bressette, Arcella Bessette and Edwin Shepard, and in-laws Norman DesLauriers, Edward DesLauriers, Mildred McKinney and Evelyn “Dolly” Tarr. 

At Betty’s request, there will be no visitation.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Saturday, September 14, 2024, at 11 am at Holy Angels Church, 245 Lake Street, St. Albans, with the Reverend Father Christopher Micale as celebrant. Prayers of committal and interment will follow in Mount Calvary Cemetery.
