INVESTIGATORS PROBE CAUSE OF BAKERSFIELD BLAZE
BAKERSFIELD: Firefighters from Bakersfield and Fairfield responded on Monday to a fire just off Belvedere Mountain Road for the report of a structure fire. When members of the Fire Department arrived, they found a small camp, fully engulfed in flames, and beginning to collapse.
Due to the rural nature of the fire, the fire department was unable to quickly get water on the fire and the camp was completely destroyed.
Investigators from the Department of fire safety, as well as the Vermont State Police probed the scene on Tuesday looking for evidence to determine how and where the fire started, however investigators say there was too much damage to the structure to determine just what happened.
The camp, owned by Tracey Young, 53, of Highgate was completely destroyed as a result of the fire. The loss is estimated to be around $61,000, according to Vermont State Police Detective Sergeant Matthew Hill.
The camp was empty at the time of the fire event and there were no reported injuries associated with the suppression or investigation of the fire, Hill said.
Firefighters were on scene for about two hours as they trucked water to the scene to extinguish the burning rubble.
