Friday, 7/19: Montgomery’s Town Library held its 15th Annual Silent Auction at Phineas Swan. It started early to accommodate the show at The Inn later that same evening. There were some great items donated to be bid on including quilts, paintings, gift cards, and treasures. Everyone was greeted with a glass of wine and a table with fantastic finger foods. The handmade furniture made by Pat Farmer was the big attraction. It was a wonderful fun-filled fundraiser evening.
Friday, 7/25: Fourteen members of the Quilting Circle met at Cheryl Heneveld’s Sewing Barn on Longley Bridge Road. A few of us brought our lunch to eat and chat before the meeting. The meeting opened with Show-N-Tell. Beth Burgess had five beautiful quilts that she had completed in this last year and one incomplete. Therese Begnoche had completed two tote bags; Marlene Mercy showed how she added inside pockets to her tote bag. Susan Smolinski showed a quilt she had made a few years ago and shared the pattern and beauty with us; Sue Cherrier had completed tote bags. Others needed help in completing their projects. Martha had a problem with doing corners, Shirley Duso had a quilt top she gave to Sue Peters to finish. Elizabeth Duffy had finished several quilt blocks for the tote bags. After sharing our show-and-tell projects it was time to start pressing. We were doing a new handle for the tote bags and Therese gave me a helping hand as these new handles have a liner inside. We pinned the edges and she will sew them at home. The wonderful, fun-filled afternoon with these artistic ladies ended around 3 pm.
Saturday, 7/28: Penny and I attended a family gathering at 61 Butternut Hollow Road in Enosburgh where Roberta Martin’s family came together to comfort each other in the loss of this remarkable lady that died so tragically on 7/15 or 7/16. Roberta had many titles. She was an excellent wife, mother, sister, sister-in-law, aunt, cousin, Grammie, Great-Grammie, and a loyal friend and neighbor. People, near and far, have felt our pain and offered their prayers, comforting words, and delicious food for the soul. I sincerely thank you ALL from the bottom of my heart.
Sunday, 7/28: Merle Van Gieson prepared and led the church service with his message, “Understanding God’s Love.” Our organist, Patrick Evans, went to Maine for the weekend and since no one else was available to play, I suggested using a tape recording that Cordelia had made for us several years ago. We listed all the hymns and Merle and Linda created the Sunday bulletin. Saturday when I went down to go through the hymns, it went ok, however, when I checked it out this morning, it would not play. Upon Merle’s arrival, he suggested we use a new tape which meant all new hymns. The worship service was a success!
