James T. Smith Sr.

BURLINGTON: James T. Smith Sr., beloved husband, father, grandfather, and brother, experienced one last change of address, at the age of 88, when he was called home to the Lord on Monday, April 8, 2024.

Jim was the only son of six children, born on December 13, 1935, to the late James P. and A. Jessie (Hughes) Smith.

A jack-of-all-trades, to all that knew him, would still not be a sufficient enough way to describe Jim to his beloved family. He held various jobs that he was proud of throughout life however becoming a stay-at-home dad was his biggest joy. Jim served in the United States Army in his younger years, and in most recent years he loved spending time with his wife and family. Those who knew and loved Jim will miss his warmth, loyalty, zest for life, and love for his family.

Jim leaves behind his true love Penny (Perry) of 44 years; his son James T. Smith Jr. (Carrie) and their children Evangeline and James T. Smith III, his daughters Mary T. Pratt, and Kayt R. Smith (Shawn Robitille) and their children Lelouch and Sadi Robitille; his last surviving sister, Celeste Whewell; and many extended families.

Along with his parents, James P. and A. Jessie (Hughes) Smith, Jim was predeceased, in 2019, by his son Peter James Smith, and by his sisters Mary Smith, Miriam Whewell, Bernadette Bland, and Rosemary Lounsbury.

Jim’s family will receive family and friends on Saturday, April 20, 2024, from 2 – 3 pm, at the Champlain Valley Church of the Nazarene, 127 Upper Weldon Street, St. Albans City, 05478, followed by a 3 pm funeral service, with Pastor Ray Mann officiating, with a reception to follow.

Honored to be serving the Smith family is Casey McNally of the Heald Funeral Home, where messages of condolence are welcome at www.healdfuneralhome.com
