Couture, 49, passed away on Friday afternoon, December 30, 2016, in the presence of his loving wife, daughter and many other family members, in the University of Vermont Medical Center in Burlington as a result of a lifelong battle of Cystic Fibrosis which entailed a double lung transplant, kidney transplant and many other complications. Beatrice Jane Roy

Beatrice Jane Roy, 88, a longtime resident of Winooski died peacefully 0n Friday, December 23, 2016 at Burlington Health and Rehabilitation Center surrounded by her loving family.

Beatrice was born in Winooski on August 25, 1928, the daughter of Aaron and Cora (Aubin) Hutchins. She graduated from Alburg High School in 1946.

Beatrice was married in Alburg on March 21, 1951 to E. Bernard Roy of Winooski.

She enjoyed puzzles, Word Finds and reading but mostly spending time with her family and friends, especially at the family camp in Alburg.

Beatrice is survived by her husband of 65 years, E. Bernard Roy; ten children and their spouses, Virginia Lapan, Michael and Amy Roy, Mary and David Nolan, James and Dianna Roy, Laura Yenkavitch and Jim Chouinard, Carlene Smyth, Charlene Roy, Jane and Michael Viens, Ronald and Carla Roy, and Julia and Brady Harvey; 20 grandchildren; several great-grandchildren; her brothers, Henry Hutchins and Ernest and Bernice Hutchins; her sister, Rosella and Herman Hansen; many nieces, nephews and cousins; and close family friends, Dawn Pouliot and Tom LaVigne.

She was predeceased by her son-in-law, Gerry Lapan; her great-grandson, Brennan Smyth; and her sister-in-law, Jean Hutchins.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Wednesday, December 28, 2016 at 1 pm at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church in Winooski. Interment will follow at St. Francis Xavier Cemetery. At Bea’s request, there will be no visiting hours. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to Vermont/American Lung Association, 372 Hurricane Lane, Williston, VT 05495 or St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, Memorial and Honor Program-F, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105-1905. Arrangements are with LaVigne Funeral Home and Cremation Service, 132 Main St., Winooski, VT.
