POLICE INVESTIGATE INMATE’S DEATH
SWANTON: State Police are investigating the death of an inmate who was being housed at the Northwestern Correctional Center.
David Bissonnette, 38, an inmate at the Correctional Center in Swanton died last night, November 22nd, at the University of Vermont Medical Center.
According to Detective Sergeant Richard Desany, of the Vermont State Police, Bissonnette was first brought to the infirmary on the morning of his death. From there he was transported to Northwestern Medical Center where he stayed for an undetermined amount of time before he was transported to UVM Medical Center’s ICU.
“Upon preliminarily investigation, it is believed that Bissonnette died as a result of a medical issue. The Vermont State Police are investigating the circumstances surrounding his death, as it is normal procedure when there is a death with an inmate under the supervision of the Vermont Department of Corrections,” said John Flannagan in a written statement.
