MAN ARRESTED FOR COUNTERFEIT $100 BILL

HIGHGATE: Police say that a fake $100 bill was used to pay for $20 worth of gas at the Highgate Village Mobile Station on Tuesday.

By the time the store had discovered that the money was fake, the suspect had already left.

Vermont State Police say that they have cited 20-year-old Peter Gagnon of St. Albans into court in connection to the counterfeit money.

“During further investigation, it was learned that Swanton Police Department and St. Albans Police Departments also had similar incidents. During this investigation, it was learned that Peter Gagnon (20) of St. Albans, VT used the fake $100.00 bill,” said Trooper Mattuchio in a press release on Friday.

Gagnon faces the charge of Uttering forged or counterfeited instruments, his court date has ben set for February 21st.
