POLICE BELIEVE MAN DROVE DRUNK AT LEAST 14 MILES

FAIRFIELD: Shane Branon, 31, of Fairfield was arrested and cited into court on February 27th for DUI after a traffic stop on Saturday night, according to Trooper Benjamin Weed.

A 911 caller alerted police to Branon, and his erratic driving, according to Weed.

“Police received a call from a vehicle operator that a white Chevy pickup truck was operating erratically in front of them on I-89 near mile marker 105,” the trooper said.

The caller went on to tell the dispatcher that Brannon’s vehicle struck a guardrail while exiting the interstate in St. Albans.

Still behind the truck, the caller followed Branon up Route 36 to the intersection of Bradley Road, where police eventually caught up to and pulled the truck over, according to Weed.

The Trooper said that there was damage to the front hubcap and rear tire of the Chevrolet 3500 truck that police suspect came from hitting the guardrail.

A preliminary breath test indicated that Branon had a BAC of 0.124%, according to police.
