SHELDON: Vermont State Police say they want to know how a fire started near a substation on Mill Street in Sheldon on Sunday. According to Trooper Matthew Hill who spearheads VSPs fire investigations in the area, the fire caused severe damage to several power poles and transmission lines.
Trooper Hill said the fire resulted in about $40,000 in damage to the transmission lines, owned by Vermont Electric Cooperative.
“The cause of the fire is under investigation and there does not appear to be any malicious intent or reason to be that the transmission lines were intentionally targeted,” Hill said.
