Mary V. Barber
BURLINGTON/RICHFORD: Mary V. Barber, 87, a former Burlington resident and more recently of Richford where she made her home with her daughter, Kathryn Gendron, passed away Saturday, June 6, 2020, at Our Lady of the Meadows in Richford.
Born in Burlington, November 2, 1932, she was a daughter of the late Joseph & Mary (Fitzgerald) Viau.
Mary graduated from Cathedral High School in 1950 and Fanny Allen School of Nursing in 1954. She enjoyed a long nursing career, first at the Mary Fletcher Hospital in Burlington, then at the Northwestern Medical Center and retired from the Arbors Assisting Living in Shelburne. Mary enjoyed playing bingo, doing crossword puzzles and playing cards.
She leaves her daughters, Stephanie Belanger of FL, Kathryn Gendron of Richford, and Stacey Barber of Fairfax; a brother, Ronald “Butch” Viau of Florida, sisters, Kathryn Prim of Kansas & Barbie Silvernail of Florida; seven grandchildren, seven great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews & cousins.
In addition to her parents, Mary is predeceased by an infant son, Michael Barber.
Family and friends will gather for a visitation, at 10 am, followed by a funeral service at 11 am on Thursday; June 18, 2020 at the Heald Funeral Home, 87 So. Main St., St. Albans, VT with Father Henry Furman, Pastor of St. Luke Parish, Fairfax and Ascension Parish in Georgia officiating.
The Vermont protocol for social distancing will be observed, attendees are asked to wear a face mask and follow the instructions of the funeral home staff.
