SWANTON SHOOTING SUSPECT’S IDENTITY REVEALED

SWANTON: Police have been tight-lipped on the shooting since an initial press release yesterday which gave little information on the incident.
Now, the County Courier has obtained public records which indicate the identity of the 22-year-old shooting suspect as James Aaron Mulholland, of Swanton.
Mulholland was booked into the Northwest Correctional Center just after 3 am Saturday morning, about 12 hours after the shooting took place on Second Street in Swanton.
According to the little information that was released by police on Friday, Mulholland knew the man he is accused of shooting, wounding the other man with shots in the chest and stomach.
Mulholland was booked on a single charge of first degree premeditated murder, according to public records.
Mulholland is expected to be arraigned on the charge on Monday afternoon, which if convicted could carry a life sentence.
Police have not identified the 31 year old man who was shot and transported to Northwestern Medical Center, and immediately transferred to UVM Medical Center to emergency surgery.
“The incident was recorded on video by at least one bystander and a nearby surveillance system. Police are reviewing the video evidence, processing the scene and conducting interviews. The investigation is in its early stages.,” said Vermont State Police spokesman Adam Silverman.
