Yvonne Louise Brown

RICHFORD: Yvonne Louise Brown (Young), 101, formerly of Richford, VT passed away peacefully and went to be with the Lord on Dec 21, 2020 at St. Albans Rehab Center. She was born on July 3, 1919 in Richford, Vermont. After graduating from high school in 1937, during the Depression, her parents urged her to move to Brooklyn, NY, to stay with relatives. It was there where she met her love, George, in 1941.

Marrying in 1943, she spent 40 years on Staten Island, New York, raising her four children. In 1947 along with with her father, siblings and husband George, built a summer camp on Lake Carmi, returning every summer with her four children, grandchildren, nieces, nephews, family and friends for over 70 years.

After George’s retirement in 1977 they moved to Florida, built a new home and spent 30 glorious years in the sunshine state. Yvonne being an avid bridge player remained active playing well after Georges death in 1992.

At the age of 90 she moved to Connecticut to be closer to family and would continue to play bridge 3 to 4 times a week. Living on her own until the age of 95, where upon she then returned home to Vermont until her death.

She was predeceased by her husband George, her daughter Marie-Louise and is survived by her sons George III (Nancy), Douglas (Carolyn) and David (Tracey); grandchildren, Kimberly, Derek, Lauren, Leah, and Cooper along with five great- grandchildren, nieces and nephews.
