Missisquoi Cancels Rest Of Winter Sports Season

Missisquoi Valley Union Athletic Director John Lumsden shared an email on Thursday afternoon stating that all sports and activities at MVU were cancelled for the remainder of the winter season and the school would be moving to remote learning effective Friday until at least March 25th.

The MVU boys’ hockey team had missed games recently but entered the postseason tournament and were slated to play in a quarterfinal next Wednesday. The girls’ hockey team was to host a playdown game against Stowe on Saturday. Missisquoi’s basketball teams were set to finish the regular season on Saturday before beginning playoffs next week.

Lumsden’s e-mail cited “health and safety” reasons as the deciding factor in eliminating all activities for the Swanton junior high and high school. The County Courier will have more on this story as it becomes available.
