Joseph P. Vincelette
SWANTON: Joseph P. Vincelette, age 66, passed away on Wednesday, April 13, 2022 surrounded by his children while listening to his favorite songs by Fleetwood Mac.
He was born in Bradford, CT on September 13, 1955 to the late Nelson and Mary Jane (Lapan) Vincelette.
Joe grew up in Swanton and attended St. Anne’s Academy and Swanton High School. After the tragic loss of his father, he entered the workforce at a young age to help support his family. He was a successful self-employed painter and roofer, and proud of his Abenaki heritage. Joe loved to fish and spent many days along the Missisquoi. He was also a talented chef and looked forward to cooking large meals for his family and friends. Through even the toughest times, Joe still remained the person everyone went to if they needed anything. He was generous, was willing to help anyone who needed it, and had the biggest heart.
Joe is survived by his children, Brenda & Chris Cross (Vincelette) of Swanton, Joe & Heather Lilliquist of St. Albans, Ray & Karen Gaboury of Swanton, Brandie Ovitt of Enosburgh, James Vincelette of St. Albans, Richard Vincelette of Poconos, PA; 15 grandchildren; six great-grandchildren; his nephew, Lester Turner; his nieces, Naomi Turner Gaboury, and Margo Gordon; and close friend, Melanie French. Besides his parents Joseph was predeceased by his sister, Linda Vincelette.
In keeping with Joe’s wishes a private graveside service will be held at the convenience of his family.
For those who wish, contributions in Joe’s memory may be made to the Maquam Bay of Missisquoi Abenaki Nation, 100 Grand Ave., Swanton, VT 05488.
