MONTGOMERY NEWS, week of NOVEMBER 6, 2023

by Lois Lumbra

We had a nice Sunday beginning with a dark cool morning that cleared by midmorning. It was a wonderful day to be outside. Penny and her son David took their dog, Bella, out for a nice walk, run, and play. Rev. Bob Purvee, who comes the first of each month from Burlington, led our weekly church service and served communion. His sermon was “Leadership: Burden or Blessing?” Vivian Elbe read the scripture, organist Patrick Evans played the special anthem, and Lois helped serve communion. Our District Superintendent came just before the service was completed as she had a meeting planned for the 2023 Annual Reports. Lois had ordered a breakfast platter of fruits and snacks for everyone to enjoy.

10/31: Our Halloween evening was filled with many children coming for candy. It was cold out but no one seemed to mind, I was dressed warm but not warm enough. Penny took over for me and enjoyed being out with the children. I enjoyed seeing the many costumes, the little dinosaur was so cute, and also a fellow wearing the fog mask. It’s great the parents go out with the children all dressed up.

The first of November was our coldest day so far this season with snow showers, in the afternoon, making everything white. The snow didn’t stay long and soon we got our green grounds back.

This past week I received an email and picture from Veronica who had received a picture of her grandson Jayden Royer having an airplane piloting lesson. Jayden is serving in the Air Force stationed in England. His Gramma Veronica and his mom Samantha are leaving this month to visit him and he has plans on taking them on a tour. They are so excited.

My wild side is a bit short this week except for one incident. A nice sized deer jumped in the path of the school bus last Friday morning. Thankfully the bus brakes were working well and the deer lives on.

Happy Birthday wishes go out to  Sue Wilson 11/12;  Patrick Evans, Charlotte Mercy 11/13; Roger Chauvin, Madison St. Onge 11/15.

Anniversary Wishes to Billy & Denise Baker 11/13.

Chuckle of the Week: I think the proper name for senior women should be QUEEN-AGERS.

This is all folks enjoy. Send me your news!

God Bless us all.  M.L.T.A.
