MONTGOMERY NEWS, week of JANUARY 15, 2024

1/14/24: It’s Sunday, an icy morning with a new snow cover. There was an early morning meeting at the Church, before our Service. Also, next week there will be another meeting starting at 8:30 am. Lay speaker John Gorton led our morning service with his sermon entitled “Follow Me.”

1/9/24: The 500 Card Club met at noon at the home of Denise Baker. Denise had prepared snacks for everyone to enjoy during their playtime. Sue Peters had a high score of 3440, the second high was Debbi Chauvin’s 3250, the low was Carmen Scott’s 1870, and most horses was Marge Cummings with 7. The February meeting will be at Therese Begnoche’s home.

David Newton and his girlfriend Jessica are returning this afternoon from Fairlee, as they attended the late Christmas gathering at her parents.

This afternoon there has been one snow squall after the other, some causing whiteouts and havoc on the roads. We’re all hoping everyone gets home safe and sound, as it has snowed a lot this afternoon. There will be shoveling to do later.

Happy Birthday wishes go out to Gala Dominia 1/17, Bernie Boucher 1/21, Scott Ramey 1/22, Mike Carpenter 1/24, Loretta Heimbecker 1/25, Tim Murphy, Claira Pratt 1/26, and Wyatt Baker 1/27.

Chuckles of the week:

• Birthdays are good for you, statistics show that the people with the most live the longest. (quoted)

• As we get older three things happen, the first is your memory goes and I can’t remember the other two. (quoted)

• I complain that the years fly past but then I look in a mirror and see that very few of them got past. (quoted).

Hope you all have enjoyed this nice long weekend. I am signing off with  M.L.T.A.
