Rita M. Plante

RICHFORD: Rita M. Plante, age 92, passed away on Monday, February 5, 2024, at the Franklin County Rehab Center in St. Albans.

She was born in Carmel, NY on June 19, 1931, the daughter of the late William & Trajana (Blaise) Lessard.

Rita’s true passion and joy came from her many hobbies. She had a green thumb and found solace in the beauty of gardening. Rita’s garden bloomed with love and care from bountiful vegetable patches to vibrant flowerbeds. Among all her adopted flora, marigolds held a special place in her heart, their vibrant colors reflecting the spirit of her lively soul.

Rita’s creativity knew no bounds. She possessed an unparalleled talent for crafting and transforming everyday objects into works of art. With a skillful touch, she could turn an old pair of pants into a beautiful rug, a testament to her resourcefulness and ingenuity. Knitting and crocheting were also cherished pastimes for her, allowing her to infuse warmth and love into every stitch.

Rita is survived by her children, Mark Plante and his wife Lauri of Leland, NC, Donald Plante and his wife Karen of Glastonbury, CT, and Ronald Plante and his wife Helen of Prospect, CT; grandchildren, Andrew Plante and his wife Rachael, Luke Plante, Grace Plante, Kelly Plante, Steven Plante, Jillian Plante, Rita Plante, Tedra Mendoza and her husband Christian; great-grandchildren, Riley, Alaina, Reagan, Luke Jr., Olivia, Emerson, Isabelle, Nathaniel, Cruz, and Enzo; her brother, Rene Lassard and his wife Catherine of Ontario; and several nieces & nephews. In addition to her parents, Rita was predeceased by her husband, Bertrand Plante; her daughter, Janet Plante; and her siblings, John Lessard, and Pauline Guillemette.

Friends and family are invited to Rita’s Life Celebration on Monday, February 12, 2024, to include visitation from 9-10 am at the Goss-Spears Life Celebration Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls. A Mass of Christian Burial will follow at 11 am at All Saints Catholic Church, 52 Main St., Richford. Interment will follow in All Saints Cemetery.
