Roland Lee Webb Sr.

ISLE LA MOTTE: Roland Lee Webb Sr., age 73, passed away on Wednesday, January 31, 2024, surrounded by his loving family. He was born on October 8, 1950, the son of the late Herbert and Jessie Webb.

Roland started working for the Franklin County Sheriff’s Department in 1973. In 1978, he joined the St. Albans City Police Force, where he would stay for the next 28 years. After he retired from the St. Albans City Police Department, Roland joined the armed security detail in 2006, securing government owned properties. He was last stationed at the Passport Agency, where he worked up until the time he was admitted to the hospital. Roland was a proud Hunter Safety Course Instructor and was just recognized for his 40 years of teaching. He also spent 30+ years serving the Vermont National Guard.

Roland was well-loved and admired by many. His family will remember him as a pillar of strength who faced every hardship with grace and was not one to complain or ask for help. He was incredibly selfless and prioritized everyone else’s needs over his own. He loved his family the most and supported them through all their accomplishments, big and small. He enjoyed watching Wyatt’s hockey games, dancing with his daughter to Bad Horsey, and building his barn with his grandchildren in the fall. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, attending the Franklin County Whitetails banquet each year with the entire family. He had a love for horses and always looked forward to family gatherings with his kids and all the grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Roland told great stories that are being left behind as fond memories and showed his love for all of us with a wink of his eye and “yee-haws.”

In addition to his parents, Roland was predeceased by his life partner, Colleen Edson; his sister Betsey Barnes; and his son, Roland Webb Jr.

He is survived by his children Lisa (Jim) Chauvin of Morrisville, VT; Scott Brooks of Ellenburg, NY; and Michelle (Kevin) Moss of Swanton, VT; grandchildren Josh (Andrea, Lindsay) Bushey, Jeremy (Casey) Bushey, Kaitlynn (Casey) Bushey, Brigette Choiniere, Blair (Jon) St. Francis, Austin Moss, and Wyatt Moss. Roland also leaves Colleen’s son Dan (Ashley) Edson, and grandson Chris (Jerica) Laframboise; as well as great-grandchildren, Trey, Bryanna, Connor, Olivia, Gracelyn, Atticus, Mya, Ava, Chloe, and Wesley. Roland leaves his brother Bruce (Martha) Webb, Sam (Tracy) Webb, and their children. Roland had many close friends including Bobby Potvin, Don Gilbert, and his special “Curly Sue” Pam Stocks who flew in from North Carolina to be with him at his bedside.

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Roland’s life with us on Thursday, February 8, 2024, at the Heald Funeral Home, 87 South Main Street, St. Albans, VT from 4 – 7 pm.

The family extends a special thank you to all of the nurses and doctors at the Northwest Medical Center and the University of Vermont Medical Center (Miller Building- Floor 5) for all you could do to make Roland as comfortable as possible in his last few weeks with us.
