ST. ALBANS POLICE SEARCHING FOR ESCAPEE
St. Albans Police responded to an apartment complex at 305 South Main Street in St. Albans City Sunday, according to St. Albans Police Chief Gary Taylor, for the report of a wanted man standing outside of the apartments.
When police arrived, they identified Andrew S. Brace, 34, of St. Albans City, but when they attempted to talk with Brace, he fled into one of the apartments, shouting “Yo, get the gun.”
Officers set up a perimeter outside the building in an attempt to corner Brace, but when backup arrived and were able to clear the apartment, they learned that Brace made it out before the perimeter was completed.
Taylor said Wednesday morning that Brace is still on the loose, and is considered to be on escape status by the Department of Corrections.
This is not the first time Brace has been on the lam, according to public records, Brace has convictions for escape for furlough, as well as burglary, possession of stolen property, uttering forged instruments, domestic assault, possession of a regulated drug, violating an abuse prevention order, and several convictions of violating conditions of release.
