As of Tuesday evening, there were 90 donors, who contributed more than $4,300 dollars. Organizers hope to raise $10,000 for the cause.
“At this time the prognosis for recovery is unknown and anything will help to cover Nick’s medical bills and costs of living while he recovers from these life-threatening injuries,” wrote Brittany Sweet in her plea for donations on Luciano’s behalf. “I will update when more information is available.”
The stabbing suspect, 44 year-old Rodney L’Esperance remains behind bars after Judge Scot Klin revoked any possibility of him posting bail during his arraignment on Tuesday.

Police were called to the apartment the two men shared at about 4:59 am Monday. According to arriving officers, L’Esperance had called the police, and was asking them to “Save my friend.”

He also told police he was the one that stabbed Luciano.
Luciano was rushed to Northwestern Medical Center before being transported to UVM Medical Center for further life-saving treatment.
One of the officers on the scene applied a tourniquet to one of Luciano’s arms. That officer noticed a puncture wound to the victim’s neck moments later, as well as a wound to his chest and armpit, according to the affidavit filed in the case.
L’Esperance had shared the apartment with Luciano for about a year, he said in court on Tuesday.
The two had been seen fighting the night before at J.W. Ryan’s Pub, downtown. Luciano went home, while L’Esperance allegedly went to another person’s home for a few hours to calm down.
L’Esperance’s defense attorney’s tried unsuccessfully on Tuesday to twist the event into a self-defense case, pleading with the Judge to set bail at an attainable amount.
