Durwood D. Preston

BELVIDERE CENTER: Durwood D. Preston was born April 21, 1951, in St. Albans, the only adopted child of Chester and Helen May Preston. Chet was a veteran of WWII. He had handed down an 1873 Silver Trade dollar to Durwood and in turn to Bradley Preston. This trade dollar had a precious history of protecting, first a soldier in WWI, then Chet in WWII, which was carried by Durwood’s daughter, Lucinda, throughout Europe for protection during her art tours.

Durwood owned and operated a blasting business and was a longtime truck driver. He enjoyed hunting, and an ice-cold beer, sharing good times riding his 74’ Harley and spending time with good friends. Durwood loved his friends and family and could always be counted on to be there for people. He enjoyed long chats, hanging out at the garage with good friends like Alan Deuso and his wife from Montgomery Center. Sadly, Durwood passed away on April 13, 2020, at his home in Belvidere Center.

Durwood was predeceased by his parents Chester and Helen Preston and also by his beloved daughter and only child, Lucinda Grace Mason in 2007. Durwood was so proud of her accomplishments in the Art World and longed to be reunited with her.

He leaves behind his longtime friends, Alan Deuso and wife of Montgomery Center; cousins, John and Lori, Sarah and Bradley Preston all of Sunapee, New Hampshire, and the Rondini and McAllister families.

Graveside services will be held at a later date at the Belvidere Cemetery.

Faith Funeral Home is assisting the family. Online condolences may be made by visiting faithfh.net.
