Joseph A. Menard
FAIRFIELD: Joseph A. Menard gained his wings on January 26, 2022, at the age of 56, surrounded by his family after a courageous battle with cancer.
He was born to Furman Sr. and Teresa Brier Menard on June 4, 1965 and raised in Fairfield, VT.
Joe had many jobs throughout his lifetime but he most enjoyed farming, being a butcher, an avid hunter and fisherman. His favorite fishing hole was in Pulaski, NY where he reeled in many salmon. He would always have a good fishing story, though you would not be told where the fish had been caught. He enjoyed everything that involved being outdoors especially spending time in his gardens exercising his green thumb. He was also an avid reader and had the gift of retaining knowledge he had acquired. He was a man of few words but always had a listening ear. Though he suffered from bad luck he always made the best of things. He had a big heart and a good soul and was always there to help you.
Survivors include his wife Michelle; children Kylee Hayes and her husband Travis and their children Lakota and Ryland, also Anthony Ryan and his children Lily and Jesse; his mother-in-law Linda Berry; his sister Brenda Menard and brothers Furman (Norman) Jr. and wife Sarah, Michael, and Albert and wife Dawn; brother and sister-in-law Keith and Vickie Berry. He leaves many nieces and nephews and several aunts and uncles. He will be missed by many, especially his close friend Rob Provasi. The local farmers will miss his house calls when they were in need of a butcher and a friendly visit.
He was predeceased by his parents Furman and Teresa; his father-in-law Kenneth Berry; his sister Denise who died at birth; his grandparents and several aunts and uncles.
At Joe’s request there will be no services. There will be a celebration of life on his 57th birthday on June 4, 2022.
Memorial contributions may be made in Joseph’s name at Franklin County Home Health, 3 Home Health Circle, St. Albans, VT 05478. Online condolences can be made at awrfh.com
