Sheila O. Jewett-Dragoon
BERKSHIRE: Sheila O. Jewett-Dragoon, age 68, passed away at her home with family by her side on Wednesday, July 26, 2023.
Everyone who met Sheila knew she was a true firecracker, appropriately born on July 4th, 1955 in St. Albans to the late Ruth (Frazier) and Gerald Jewett Sr.
Sheila, along with her nine siblings, was raised in Montgomery on her family’s farm. She developed an incredible work ethic early in life by helping on the farm, throwing hay bales, working the sugar bush, and her favorite was feeding the calves. Sheila attended Montgomery and Fairfield elementary schools and graduated from Richford High School in 1973. After graduation, she worked for Dueso’s, the Hockey Stick Factory, and Champlain Cable until she took a position for IBM where she retired in March of 2011 after 30 years. While working at IBM she was able to start her own business, a staple in the community and gathering spot, the Udder Delight Creemee Stand in Enosburg Falls, where she owned and operated for nearly 10 years.
She met her husband Richard “Dick” Dragoon and the two were married on June 1, 2001. Together they enjoyed going out to eat, taking day trips, and attending family events. Sheila was also a member of the Richford Auxiliary for 50 years and the VFW in St. Albans.
Sheila grew up with a strong sense of order and a keen eye for detail. Throughout her life, she had a strong belief that everything should be done the right way, and she approached each task with precision and care. Her home was a testament to her impeccable standards, as she meticulously maintained a clean and welcoming place for her family. Above all, Sheila loved her family fiercely, offering unwavering support, guidance, and full bellies. She looked forward to cooking and baking for her family and was known for her Fritters, Monkey Balls, and Maple Cream Pie.
