Byron Joseph Baker

ST. ALBANS: Byron Joseph Baker, a lifelong area resident, passed away on Saturday, December 9th, 2023, at the Northwestern Medical Center with his family at his side.

Born in St. Albans on September 21st, 1943, he was the son of the late Roger and Rose (Ashline) Baker. Byron was 80 years old.

Byron was educated in St. Albans and a 1961 graduate of Bellows Free Academy. During his working career, he was associated with IBM, Accurate Precision Fasteners, a partner in Bilodeau and Baker Concrete, and retired from Dowling’s.

Byron loved to drive in his younger years, he raced his Barracuda and was known by his friends as “Mister Shifter.” He loved music, playing the guitar and listening to the Beetles, Eagles or Creedence Clearwater Revival.

Most important to Bryon was his family. He leaves behind his partner for 34 years and wife for 18 years, Lori Fairbanks, his four sons, Sean Baker and his wife, Wendy, Troy Baker and his companion, Pam, Ty and his companion, Melissa and Justin Fairbanks and grandson, Tyler Fairbanks, as well as seven grandchildren.

Byron is also survived by his sister, Susan Masse and her husband, Kenny, several nieces and nephews, and his special feline companion, Chloe.

In addition to his parents, Byron was predeceased by his daughter, Kendra Malaney on June 3rd, 2022, and two sisters, Valerie Marchant and Pat Bilodeau, and close friend and business partner, Jim Bilodeau.

It was Byron’s request to have no services.

“I want to say thank you all for your condolences in this hard time. I am so thankful to have my family and friends during this hard time. You guys have been helping me! I know that Byron is in a better place and his memory will live on. Again, thank you all for your condolences. My heart also goes out to other people who are also having a rough time.
