Betty Lumbra Courville

ST. ALBANS: Betty Lumbra Courville a lifelong Franklin County resident passed away peacefully Saturday, February 17th, 2024, at Homestead Senior Living.

Born on July 16th, 1930, in Montgomery, she was the daughter of the late Lionel and Dorothy (Vincent) Lumbra. Betty was 93 years old.

On May 28th, 1950, Betty married Raymond J. Courville, who predeceased her on January 23rd, 2023.

Betty was a 1947 graduate of Richford High School and then was a longtime clerk for Wm. Doolin & Co and Drinkwater Fine Jewelry. She was a longtime member of the Ladies of Saint Anne, a volunteer for the Northwestern Medical Center Ladies Auxiliary, and Robert E. Glidden Post# 758 Ladies Auxiliary. In her younger years, Betty loved to sew and crochet and loved to cook for her family, always cooking with love.

Survivors include her sons, Stephen Courville and his partner, Sue Allen, of St. Albans and Marc Courville and his wife, Julie, of Grawn, Michigan; and her grandchildren, Shaun, Alexander and his wife, Alexis, and Rachel. Betty also leaves her sister, Bertha “Sis” Freidman and her husband, Edward, of North Carolina, sister-in-law, Lois Lumbra of Montgomery, several nieces, and nephews, and very close family friend, Paul Chabot.

In addition to her parents, and husband, Ray, Betty was predeceased by her daughter-in-law, Gail Courville on November 28th, 2022.

A graveside service at Mount Calvary Cemetery will be announced at a later date.
