THE MONTGOMERY NEWS, JUNE 10, 2024

by Lois Lumbra

Our Church Service was led by lay speaker, John Gorton with his message entitled “What Spirit Possesses You.” John told us his haying had come to a stop temporarily because of all the rain this past week.

We have had thundershowers and wind gusts around Franklin County last week. On Friday, the fire department was called for lightning that hit a small building up above me on Green Mountain Road, past the Fuller Bridge.

Thursday, Veronica came by for a short visit. She was on her way to the Montgomery Center of the Arts with her paintings in preparation for an upcoming Art show. Esther Varela noticed her car and also stopped in. She and Veronica like to find stones that they create into objects. Esther had found a stone in the shape of a shoe. Veronica found a stone in the shape of a foot with no toes, and other small stones she added to the foot shape. We also like finding shapes in the clouds. Veronica takes pictures of these shapes/little creatures and creates greeting cards.

Saturday, 6/8: Natalie Marston was laid to rest here in the Village Cemetery with her family and friends gathering close by. Rev. Lyle Willey officiated the Graveside Committal Service. Natalie grew up and attended schools here in town and attended schools here, and later married Arthur Marston.

Saturday, June 8: A Graveside Committal Service was held for Betty Lumbra Courville at the Holy Cross Cemetery in St. Albans. Betty was the sister of my late husband Sonny Lumbra. Betty and Ray had over 70 years of married life and enjoyed raising their two sons, Steve and Marc. They had a camp at Maquam Shore and for years they had family reunions with relatives coming each summer to enjoy the lake, boating, swimming, and fishing. The family members all have wonderful memories at the Courville camp.
