Michael Emmet Walsh

Culver City, CA/Swanton, VT – Michael Emmet Walsh and longtime resident and actor of Culver City and summer resident of Swanton, passed away on Tuesday, March 19th, 2024, at the Northwestern Medical Center in St. Albans.

Born in Ogdensburg, New York on March 22nd, 1935, Mike was the son of the late Harry Maurice Walsh and Agnes Katharine (Sullivan) Walsh. He was 88 years old.

Mike was an accomplished actor going by the name of M. Emmet Walsh in Hollywood. He appeared in over 200 films and television series. Movie critic Roger Ebert stated the Stanton-Walsh Rule: “No movie featuring either Harry Dean Stanton or M. Emmet Walsh in a supporting role can be altogether bad.” The depths of his talent were matched only by his generosity.

Emmet is survived by two nephews James Walsh (Ashlee), grandniece Avery, and Kevin Walsh (Renee) grandnephews Emmet and Elliot, as well as one niece Meagan Walsh and sister-in-law Janet Walsh.

In addition to his parents, Mike was predeceased by his brother Harry Maurice Walsh Jr.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, May 24th, 2024, at 11:00 AM at the Immaculate Conception Parish, Holy Angels Church, 245 Lake Street, St. Albans, with the Reverend Father Christopher Micale as celebrant. Prayers of committal and interment will follow in the family lot in Holy Cross Cemetery.
