Roger A. Stone
BAKERSFIELD – On Wednesday, September 23, 2020, Roger A. Stone of Bakersfield, Vermont passed away peacefully in the presence of his family.
Born on November 5th, 1952 in St. Albans, Vermont to parents Calvin and Ramona Stone, Roger led an amazing life centered around his family. He is predeceased by his parents and survived by his wife, Gloria J. Stone; three sons, Timothy A. Stone, Tadd A. Stone, Tyler A. Stone; three grandchildren, Alyssa Sweet-Stone, Brooke Stone and Phoenix Stone; and many more brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Anyone who knew Roger, quickly came to appreciate his sense of humor, competitive nature and contagious smile. Upon first meeting him, you might think him to be a quiet man, but after spending a little time with him, you would quickly realize he never stopped chatting, sometimes even when no one was there to hear him. Above all else, his most endearing trait was his love for his family. He was always looking to spend time playing cribbage with his brothers and sisters, riding around looking for deer or playing horseshoes with his wife, watching his boys play sports while supporting the team through cookouts, traveling to see his son away at school or work in Maine or just tinkering around the house working on projects with whomever was around to spend time with him.
Roger often reminisced about his memories of playing sports growing up or his love for the railroad. He worked as a linesman at the Lamoille Valley Railroad for much of his early adult years and then became a groundskeeper for the Bakersfield and Enosburg Falls Country Clubs before slowing down and taking time to enjoy retirement.
This short eulogy could not begin to summarize the many accomplishments of Roger’s life or how important he was to his friends and family. Countless hours could be spent talking about the many memories of him. We hope that you will join us to share some of these memories in an Open House celebrating his life to be held on Friday, October 2nd, from 6:00pm – 7:00pm at Spears Funeral Home, 96 Dickinson Ave., Enosburg Falls, Vermont to be followed up with a bonfire at his home immediately following the celebration of life.
