GOVERNOR SCOTT TO PURRIER ST. PIERRE: ‘VERMONT STANDS BEHIND YOU’
MONTPELIER: Vermont’s Governor, Phil Scott, released a video Thursday afternoon congratulating Elle Purrier St. Pierre of Berkshire, and fellow Olympian Ilona Maher, of Burlington.
“This year, while Vermonters are rooting for Team Red, White, and Blue at the Tokyo Games; We’ll be paying extra close attention to two inspiring women from the Green Mountain State,” Scott said in his video tribute.
Purrier St. Pierre is set to participate in the Woman’s 1500 meter. Round 1 begins at 8:35 pm (EST) on Sunday, August 1st, and it’ll be broadcast on NBCSports.
Purrier St. Pierre is expected to advance to the semifinals, which will take place on Wednesday, August 4th, at 6 am (EST). That’ll be broadcast on NBC. The finals, held on Friday, August 6th, will also be broadcast on NBC, and is set to begin at 8:50 pm (EST).
Watch parties are being organized throughout the area, including one that is open to the public at the Richford High School, Purrier St. Pierre’s alma mater.
The Olympics opening ceremony takes place tomorrow beginning at 7 am (EST), with coverage on NBC beginning at 6:55 am.
