Ira Allen Noyes

BERKSHIRE: Ira Allen Noyes, age 74, passed away on November 27th, 2023, peacefully and without pain, surrounded by family at his home in Berkshire.

Ira was born on a mountain in Montgomery, Vt. His untimely birth near the end of a snowy December meant there was no passage to the nearest hospital. Being the firstborn, his parents did their best to keep him warm and they placed him in the oven. They affectionately gave him the nickname ‘Peanut’ a name that has stuck with him and his family throughout the years, some knew him as Ira however his siblings all called him Peanut.

After serving in the Navy during the Vietnam Conflict, Ira was honorably discharged. He hitchhiked home from Maryland carrying his service papers with a handwritten sign and the words ‘BOSTON, MASS’ written on the front.

Ira was an Auto Technician by trade, self-taught. He worked for many years to provide for his young bride, Robin, and two children in a small mobile home in Sheldon, and many fond memories happened during those years. After years of hard work, Ira ventured out on his own and built his own business, ‘Ira’s Auto Repair.’ He successfully built his own garage, house, and business on that property.
Ira is survived by his daughter Vicky Clogston and her husband Winston of Swanton, and son Kenneth Noyes and wife to be Andrea of Westford; grandchildren, Tiffany and Alyssa Clogston and her husband Jesse Williams, and Adrienne, Olivia, and Alexandria Noyes; great-grandchildren, Genesis and Arriyah Williams;

Ira leaves his siblings Karla Lawyer and her husband Lyman of Enosburgh, Francine MacLean and her husband Mickey of Augusta, Georgia, Mona Van Dyke and her husband Brian of Enosburgh, Donald Noyes and his wife Judy of Richford, Jill Noyes and her husband Jeffrey (Porky) of Richford, Jack Noyes and his wife Lori of Enosburgh.

Ira was predeceased by his wife Robin Noyes, father, Donald W. Noyes; brother, Keith Noyes, sister, Roxanne Poirier; mother, Charlotte Parent and step-father, Raymond Parent; grandparents, Richard & Dorcas Elkins and Ralph & Bessie Noyes; nephews, George Brassil, Nathanael MacLean, Michael MacLean, and great niece Emily Brassil.

Ira was the best dad, a wonderful brother, and a loving man all around. His life and actions touched many people throughout the years. If you knew him then you know what I mean.

A private graveside service will be held at a time TBD at the Montgomery Center Cemetery, VT Rte. 118, Montgomery Center, VT.
